Fugue

Tossing and turning didn't help much

So she sprang up and sat in rage,
She gazed at the moon in a state of trance
She thought of breaking the cage.

She opened her old books and flipped the phrases,

Filtering old ideologies, one by one
She threw away the rotting roses,
Got rid of the toy gun,
She knew it was time, her time to run.

She was never the kinds to bid farewell
,

She was never the kinds to rewind,

Her own healer, free from the bonds of bondage
She washed her wounds with her mind.

Something had possessed her, it can't be told,

Ushering her into a world so cold
She banged her fists against the wall,
She dragged herself in an attempt to crawl
Fell into pits she fell into forever,
Sacrificed her age old endeavour
She knew it was no longer her day in the sun,
She knew it now, she had to run.

So leaving her world true to her word,

She flew away just like a bird
What are you called and what is your plight?
She smiled and signalled to the kite
Clueless, wavering in spirals against the horizon

What was it doing there and where would it go?

It's adventure was limited from the time it was discovered.

Chained down by the ones who got her flying
They called her a denier and accused her of lying
Dubbed her depression stricken, the misery they put her through
But she had escaped into another world, who knew?

She wiped the leftover tears as she tried to sleep

But tossing and turning didn't help much,
So she sprang up, but gently
She starred at the sun in wonder,
Checking her bed for what lied under
She found tattered roses, a broken gun,
She found a note that said 'run'
And so was she up with a glint in her eye,
Her messed up hair now resting in a bun,
And sped into a world she would make her own
Threw the letter into another day, another year
She'd find it someday and run without a fear.

Gentler now, even more than the roses,
A guarded heart and some more days in the sun
But the blood running in her was yet the same,
She could fight any number, she had the gun.

Sorry for the repeated use of the 'Shes' and 'Sos', just felt it necessary to emphasize.

Thanks for reading.

Open to any suggestions :)
